MUSIC
As musicians, it is important to have a regular practice regime which not only focuses on our current repertoire but also on improving our technical skills. This will enhance our playing by enabling us to achieve the best sound and improve our skills as an ensemble when we are back together. There are many practice and theory activities you can explore at home including the following:

Concert Band: All concert band members should be rehearsing the following pieces in preparation for our Whole school Concert at the beginning of Term 3:
‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ ‘Selections from the Lion King’ and ‘A Friend Like Me’.
Students are particularly encouraged to work on the more difficult sections of the music.
Students can listen to the music via the following URLs:
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ https://www.halleonard.com/product/4004135/soundtrack-highlights-from-guardians-of-the-galaxy?subsiteid=6
‘A Friend Like Me’ https://www.halleonard.com/product/22625125/friend-like-me-from-aladdin?subsiteid=6

Stage Band: All students should be practising the two new charts: ‘Gold on the Ceiling’ and ‘Walkin’ on the Sun’ in preparation for our Whole School Concert at the beginning of Term 3.
Students can listen to the music via the following URLs:
‘Gold on the Ceiling ‘ https://www.halleonard.com/product/7012097/gold-on-the-ceiling?subsiteid=6
‘Walkin’ on the Sun’ https://www.halleonard.com/product/7013400/walkin-on-the-sun?subsiteid=6
Students are encouraged to focus on practising the more difficult sections.
All stage band members, need to ensure they have all the music for the Winter Ball, which has been rescheduled for term 4. You can find the Set List on the S drive at:
(S:)\TeacherResources\Music\Stage Band\Ball Repertoire List

Senior Choir: Choir members are encouraged to listen to and practise ‘Rocketman: Songs from the Motion Picture’ https://www.halleonard.com/product-family/PC21484/rocketman-songs-from-the-motion-picture?subsiteid=5

Chamber Ensemble
Planning for the All School Concert early next term is underway. Could you please email Mrs Cooney if you do not have your parts for Gustafson Serenade for Strings or Arvo Pärt Summa and your part will be sent to you. The following links mean that when you have practised your individual part you can play along with the recording. Our interpretation and rubato moments may differ slightly but it will still be good practice to play along with a whole string orchestra. Do enjoy doing this. In a way it makes you sound great in your own home!

Handbells
If you haven’t already investigated the world of Handbells on Youtube, you will be amazed. Please find your favourite example and send it to the music department. Before you choose make sure you look at a variety of performances of television themes, modern songs, film music, art music (as in Classical style music), ballet themes, etc. You will notice bells being played with mallets as well as the way we ring at school. When you have immersed yourself in handbell performances choose your favourite performance and send it here with three reasons as to why it is your choice. Enjoy your search!
Orchestra
Thinking towards the whole school concert at the beginning of Term 3 means we should keep practising The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. If you don’t have your part at home please let Mrs Cooney know and it will be sent to you. Please practise your part with intonation and rhythmic precision as priorities. Practise slowly first and increase the tempo as you improve. When you are ready please play along with the link provided and you will sound amazing!
